5 Cozy Mysteries for a Perfect New England Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. From the moment that first chill is felt in the air, to the beginning of the vibrant colors hitting the leaves, to November when they’re all gone and the geese have taken to the skies.

There are many places to experience a gorgeous autumn, but a New England fall can’t be beat. If we can’t get there in person, we can most certainly get there between the pages of a cozy mystery!

Here are a few of my favorites, including one of my own!

1) Let's start early with Fondue or Die by Korina Moss, set during Labor Day weekend at a dairy festival in Connecticut. Cheesemonger Willa will be selling cheese-filled grazing boxes from her booth, but when a Diary Days pageant contestant winds up dead, you'll need your own wheel of cheese and crackers to help Willa follow the crumbs. Changing leaves and murder make this the perfect New England fall read!

2) Slip on your mask and get ready for loads of chilly autumn fun in Kara Lacey's Masked Intentions! We're heading to Stonebridge, Vermont for the Harvest Festival set amongst a spectacular New England fall. Following photographer Bobbie as she rounds up murder suspects will be the picture-perfect way to spend a fall day.

3) How about spending Halloween in Cape Willington, Maine? Town in a Pumpkin Bash by B. B. Haywood is a fun romp at an Autumn Festival with a haunted house, a haunted hayride, fake gravestones, and a real dead body! Have a cozy blanket and a bowl of Halloween candy nearby as you help Candy, farmer and part time journalist, unearth the clues.

4) Maple Sugar and Magic by Tara Lush transports us to Hemlock Hollow, Vermont during Thanksgiving time, where a midlife witch has returned home to a place where magic permeates the maple-scented air, and moose sing in the woods. Curl up in your coziest socks with a steaming mug of maple tea to enjoy this novella.

5) Settle in for a gorgeous New Hampshire fall between the pages of Here We Goat Again by Janna Rollins. (Me!) The leaves are vibrant, a chill is in the air, and a nature photographer is in town teaching a workshop--until she winds up dead! Indulge in a maple donut and a hot cup of coffee as you head to the farm just outside of Bobwhite Hollow, New Hampshire for this fall read.

Where are you heading first?
