5 Things About Callie Haybeck

Callie Haybeck stars in the Zen Goat Mysteries, written by Janna Rollins. Well, co-stars really, with her naughty but loveable goat, Bugsy.

  1. Callie grew up in Seattle, but when she took a DNA test, she found long lost family, flew out to Bobwhite Hollow, New Hampshire to meet them, fell in love with her great-uncle and aunt as well as the place, and decided to stay. Now, she’s teaching goat yoga on the family farm.

  1. She’s smart, a quick learner, and isn’t afraid of a little hard work. Callie went from being a city girl to someone who can buck a bale of hay, fix a fence, and hoe a garden in no time flat. Next, Uncle Will is going to teach her how to troubleshoot and fix the tractor. She can’t wait!

  1. Callie’s never truly been in love. Infatuation and a whole lot of ‘like' from time to time, sure, but not that butterflies in the belly, weak in the knees type where you know your heart could be broken if you aren’t careful. Well, at least until that infuriating and so darn charming veterinarian, Levi McClure, came along. She’s starting to fall, and she thinks she might like it.

  1. She sunk her savings into a herd of goats for her Zen Goat business, only to find out she’s allergic to goats and hay. But not only does she have eyes for the vet, she’s also fallen hard for that naughty goat named Bugsy, so she better find something to stop the sneezes, because giving up the goats isn't an option.

  1. When Callie isn’t teaching yoga or working on the farm, she loves to drive the back roads of New Hampshire, blasting Nirvana or Green River. While she was born decades after grunge’s heyday, she inherited her love of the music from her dad, and is unapologetic about it, though she’s attempting to influence the musical tastes of her cousin, Tristan.

I guess I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Callie's pretty good at keeping herself balanced and following the clues when there is a murder in town. Which there seems to be quite often. Don't get me wrong, Bobwhite Hollow is super charming if you overlook the dead people who keep showing up.
